Using Morale, Fatigue and Stratagem within a Battle
Okay so welcome to the Betrayal of the Three Kingdoms Battle Guide. The first thing you will have to remember in a battle you participate in, is that Morale and Fatigue are entwined within the same database. Meaning what affects one thing such as morale will most likely affect the other. For this system to work, we must make calculations on specific (obvious) stages that you and your troops are in. Below are a few points on how to keep your fatigue and morale high, note: a lot of this is common sense, but even so – it’s incredibly important, both in reality and with our formula.
1. When you start a battle, for the first 5 rounds your army is supplied automatically with food. After the 5th round you’ll start receiving penalties, since hunger will affect both morale AND fatigue, you will have to keep morale high by buying Food Supplies and Issuing their uses after a few rounds to keep everyone happy. Also remember that the 5 automatic rounds of food are for marching and general fighting, if you do lots of raids or fast marching you’ll STILL receive penalties after 1 or 2 rounds.
2. Morale is determined by the actions you take in a battle, granted things like food supplies effect your morale rating, but giving your army a good speech will keep morale high for a few rounds, as will defeating any enemy unit or general. Of course, with this system you can also lose morale, such as by means of an ambush. If this happens you’ll get a large penalty on your morale rating. So always remember to keep it high, the lower it gets the more troops you’ll lose within a confrontation.
3. Strategy and Formation are used a lot in the database for calculating loses, we will evaluate on a ratio of 0 to 20 for every post you make, determining whether or not there’s a counter effective basis on the actions you’re taking (0 is the best, 20 is the worst). The thing to remember is that your posts itself do nothing in terms of quality and quantity – only what you do has an effect on the damage. Describing a plan for 5 pages will benefit you in NO way whatsoever, so remember, use your talents for strategic thinking, and only do large posts for a battle if you either want to, or if you have lots of schemes going off. You should however realise the flaw with small posts with this system, your plan is only as concrete as your wording, the formula can’t judge meaning nor can we be expected to read your minds when calculating damage. Explain what you’re doing in good detail, the formula will do everything else.
