Character Details
Name: Huang Kuai (He prefers to be addressed as just Kuai though and not his full name)
Title: The Silver Blade
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 187
Appearance: Huang Kuai wears a Size 9 pair of Black Boot's over which he wears Mud Brown trousers (Tight enough to not catch in the wind but loose enough so as not to impede movement). He wears a Short sleeved mud brown shirt (The shirt itself is tucked in to the trousers and like the trousers is tight enough so as not to catch on anything but loose enough to allow full movement.
He wears a Dark Brown leather jerkin over his shirt which remains unbuttoned and flows loose. Out of battle he ties a small piece of red cloth round his upper bicep. This is a sign of his allegiance to his band the Screaming Skulls.
In battle, his attire remains the same however the Red Cloth is removed from the arm and instead tied to his belt. Each member of the Screaming Skulls also wears a Skull Mask as a way to intimidate the enemy in an early form of Psychological Warfare.
The Mask itself is simply a tight fitting piece of black cloth with the image of a laughing skull on the front with holes for the eyes (See image for example)
Weapon 1: Huang Kuai's primary weapon is known as the Devil's Claw, so named after a beast of Myth the Catan Devil. A Hunter who stalks the Catan Village People at night. The weapon's blade itself is a full 3 and half feet long and with the hilt the weapon falls in at a full length of about 3'9". The blade itself is sharpened along both edges and is often dulled with soot before battle so as not to give off a reflection
Weapon 2: Huang Kuai's second weapon is a simple Short Bow. Its design is useless for long range engagements but excels at Close Range warfare as its small size means it does not catch easily on the Jungle Canopy of the Native lands but still has enough power to stop a man and pierce armour at close range
Personality:
Huang Kuai is considered a great tactician in closed environments such as Jungle or Woods and to an extent Castle's and Cities. His instinct for ambush and trap's allows him to take on larger numbers than his small band would usually permit. It is this that has brought him to the greater conflict to offer his services.
Huang Kuai also care's deeply for each of his men, all of which will have lived and fought and worked together for many years and such have formed a bond of brotherhood through fire and battle. Each man would lay his life on the line for the next, this is a strength but also a weakness as it means that Huang Kuai will not risk his men to say save a troop from a flank charge but will gladly charge an army to save one man.
Huang Kuai believes strongly in himself and his men. He also has a strong sense of pride but will never let this get in the way of what he needs to do. It has been known in the past for Huang Kuai to kill unarmed civilians simply so that they do not give the Skulls position away
History:
Huang Kuai was born in a small village in the far south, on the boarder of what is now Vietnam. His village known as Catan is deep within the Jungle's of that area and though the small village has maybe 10 child births a year (The village birth and death rate tends to keep the village size to about 600 people), only on average 3 of these children will live to Adult hood. Luckily for Huang Kuai he was one of the 3.
Huang Kuai grew up in the Jungles of his village and the surrounding area and like all of his Kin soon learned the pain of loss as each year friends died, eaten by or perhaps poisoned by one of the many creatures both Carnivorous and otherwise of the Jungle. However with this comes a respect of the power of nature and a almost 6th sense of the Jungle world, each Catan child as they grow learning the skills needed to live and survive in this deadly world.
Huang Kuai at age 15 was allowed by village law to claim his manhood but to do this he would have to live and hunt in the Jungle for one month and return with the head of a great beast of the Jungle.
The first few days Huang Kuai though like all who attempt this that perhaps he had gone too far and wasn’t ready for the trial, however he soon found his feet and began a life in the jungle. All went well for the first 2 weeks, he hunted the wild animals and ate what he knew was safe. He built himself a shelter from the frequent rain.
It was 3 weeks in to the trial that he found his prey. A great wolf, a legend amongst his village. This creature had plagued them for years, snatching children in their sleep but always avoiding the party's sent to kill it. Huang Kuai knew this was his calling and his kill, for 3 days and 3 nights he and the beast maneuvered in a game of cat and mouse. The wolf sensed the boy and knew that in order to live it must kill again.
On the 4th day, the Wolf pounced, sensing the Boy had strayed too far and took one step beyond his ability. However Huang Kuai had prepared for this, just as the wolf readied itself to strike, the boy turned and looked the wolf in the eye. Time stopped for a split second and the wolf knew it was beat, for 3 days ago in an early skirmish the boy had landed a blow to the wolf, a scratch which had begun to heal but still itched. The wolf could not understand why but the boy could, for his blade had been coated in poison. A poison which took 3 days to work, the hunter was always the hunted and the boy had won.
The Wolf faltered in its pounce and collapsed, and waited. The wolf knew that this man would kill him. The wolf waited for the end, and the now man delivered. With one strike he ended the Wolf's life and claimed his manhood. He returned to his village later that week victorious and with the Wolf's head as proof.
Impressed by his kill, he was given the choice, he could stay in the village. Claim a wife and live his life here or join the Screaming Skulls a Mercenary Unit supplied to the outside world in exchange for things the outside world had the village did not.
The boy chose the Skulls, Huang Kuai took part in many Skulls engagements, his knack for Ambush and Scout earning him a reputation as a warrior and tactician and soon there was talk of him taking command and allowing the current Leader to take the final hunt and die at peace.
The decision was made a year later when he was handed the "Devils Claw" and declared the new "Silver Blade", an honouree title passed down from leader to leader. Huang Kuai continued to lead his troops in to battle and has now set out to the north to join the fighting and offer his services to the cause, but which is the question?
The Screaming Skulls
The Screaming Skulls are a small band numbering at any time 100 at most but usually around 50. Their lives in Catan prepare them for life as a Skull. Each is the equal value of any soldier however it is under the canopy of Jungle or Wood that they prove themselves. Even a small group of 10 can and have taken out armies of 10X there size through cunning and tactics. Using traps and ambushes, the skulls whittle down there enemy till the time is right for the final strike.
Each Skull is usually armed with a short bow for close range fire support (usually beginning and ambush with one or two volleys) and also a small blade (usually a long dagger or a short sword, the choice is individual to each soldier).
Each wears similar attire to their leader, this is for two reasons. One it means that an enemy cannot easily spot and kill their leader and gain an advantage in battle. The second is to show that each man in the Skulls is equal, though one man leads, any can speak (Though the Silver Blades word is final).
(The Skulls part is a little about the unit. The Unit itself will simply offer for a Fee its services for Ambush/Traps and Hit and Run of enemy held installations)
(Sorry about any gramatical errors and spelling mistakes, i ran it through Word and proof read it but some always slip through. Any problems let me know and i can edit, some may also see a similarity between this and 300. Yes, they are similar but i only realised after i wrote it so meh. Anyway, any problems let me know (P.s before anyone goes "Its a Catachan Jungle Fighter". I know))
