Battles and Duels
Main Rules
The main things to remember in a battle or a duel are the rules. These rules/and guidelines are there to help you understand how to participate within a battle. Some of these rules may seem strict, others stupid. But I can assure you that every rule is here for a very specific and important reason.
Posting Orders, Battle Information and Battle Maps
All posting orders are calculated at random, usually with the attacker starting first. A posting order simply means that one person may post per round. A round being when everyone participating in a battle has done a single post. Once this is done a Moderator calculates the damage. Now remember, there is a 24 hour time limit to posts, this can be bypassed with a formal explanation to a member of staff, preferably an Administrator. If you don’t post, the formula calculates your actions as an average and you’re dealt damage according to that (which formula wise is 10, that’s the average score).
There is no set order for people to post in, but everyone should be aware that a defense must be made by the defender before the damage resolves. This means, if you attack someone who has just posted, the attack doesn’t go through the formula until after the next round (This is how it is for all sites). This is what I call the ‘Delayed Simulation’, usually these messes up a battle. But we’ve decided, for cases MATCHING this, to allow the DEFENDER a 2nd post to defend before the round comes to an end. These 2nd posts must be titled and must only and I mean ONLY contain the defense of the attack.
Now, let’s discuss Battle Maps. Usually a Battle Map does something to mess up a battle. Well, battle maps are very simple, we’re going to be following the Dynasty Warriors approach, keep the battles in a closer area, so that people don’t get overly confused on how big the landscape is. A castle is a castle; people shouldn’t get confused on how many thousand meters it is.
Duels in Battle
You can initiate a duel in a battle if you want to, just like you can initiate meetings or whatever else you feel like doing (since its real life time, you can do whatever we as humans can do, you can dance for all we care). But, if you do initiate a duel, all we ask is that it doesn’t stop or slow the battle down too much, keep your duel in a different paragraph preferably marked by a horizontal line so we can tell the battle post from the duel post. Make sure your troops do stuff, since our formula doesn’t work well with thousands of soldiers cheering two sweaty fat men fighting with wooden sticks.
If you do that the duel will last for however long the two participants need, if the duel affects the flow of a battle by argument the battle moderator has the RIGHT to end the duel and dispel any form of reward for the duel. Keep them clean and friendly, we don’t want trouble by allowing the freedom to do anything you want.
Ambushes and Strategies
Ambushes and Strategies work like they do in real life, a Battle Mod does not NEED to know everything you do, it’s only suggested you tell them in-case it’s impossible to do. For instance, an ambush won’t be accepted as a move if it doesn’t appear real, seem possible under the circumstances to do or if it is too far away. You must let people know if an ambush is being prepared, you can’t just randomly post saying stuff like you’re kicking their ass by a magical ambush. That stuff doesn’t fly; it has to be possible to do and logical. The soldiers need to come from somewhere, a platoon that you ‘sent’ away several rounds ago, anything that works and fits the acts of realism.
As for strategies, pits, falls, rock slides or any other time consumed action required logical explanations of why it happened, you cannot assume rocks were just ready to crush the heads of your enemies. They must be pre-planned and set for the battle. Strategies that are instantaneous must also follow logical reasoning, no inferno by shooting a few barrels with a few fire arrows, that stuff isn’t logically or physically possible to do. Keep it real, the formula works a lot better that way.
