Officers beneath the Shu kingdom are to report here. The camp is located on the far western side of the battle map (in between the rivers edge and the mountain just west of Xu Chang). Post here so that Liu Bei may assign you your troops for this battle. All strategies regarding this battle are to be posted in your official Shu war camps/councils. Lets have a good fight yeah.

The Shu army was busy setting up a camp that was only going to be taken down in a few days. He watched, and helped a few men haul some hay bales into the stable area. Men bustled about, armored columns full of men ready to give their lives for their lord. It almost pained Bei to know that many of these men would not be returning to their families.
He swatted at a fly with his fan, and was reminded of the lack of Zhuge Liang's appearance. He cursed not having the man's tactical genius, but did not let this dissuade him from his course.
He planned on meeting the Wu leader, Sun Ce, soon enough. Bei had fought alongside his father against the Turbans and Dong Zhuo, and anticipated that the man's cubs would not disappoint. Liao Hua was forming ranks, and Liu Shan was back in San Jiang; Bei would not let his almost idiotic son screw anything up this day.
He intended to hand all of China to someone else instead; Shan was not fit to Rule. Maybe Hua...
No, the man was a warrior, not a statesman like himself. That's why he kept him so close. Alas, the problem of those most trusted around him...
They were nothing like him.

Zhao Yun arrived shortly after Liu Bei and the troops, along with his own officers, Wei Zhong and Fong Zhu. Wei Zhong was the epitome of swagger and confidence; his brown eyes surveyed the troops around them, his head held high. He kept himself clean almost all the time, and his facial hair was groomed every morning. His collar, made of raven feathers, waved behind his neck in the gentle breeze. Hhe drew his sword from its sheath, and the clean sound the metal had on the sheath was like music to his ears. He examined the beautiful blade, and then spoke to Fong Zhu.
"Fong... do you know when the battle will begin?"
Fong Zhu appeared as if he had just rolled out of beah. His head of hair was more fierce than a lions mane, and just under his solar plexus was a strip of tiger fur. At the base of the blade of his spear, there was also a guard oade of tiger fur. This hide was from the same tiger; one Fong Zhu slayed with his own hands.
"I dunno. Why don't you ask Zhao Yun? I'm not your master."
Wei Zhong looked at Fong Zhu with an air of annoyance around him, and then rode over towards Zhao Yun.
"Master Zhao, do you believe the battle will start later today, or tomorrow?"
Zhao shrugged. "In all honesty, I'm not quite sure. I was just about to go speak with Lord Liu Bei about it. I'll keep you and Fong informerd."
Wei Zhong nodded, and rode off to Fong Zhu. Then, zhao Yun rode over to Liu Bei... who was hauling hay bales. So thoughtful... Zhao Yun was proud to serve this man. He dismounted, and assisted Liu Bei with the hay. "Lord Liu Bei," he asked, "When do you believe that we will commence the assault?"

Guan Yu arrived at the location designated by his brother as their rally point. Already members of the Shu army had arrived, his brother Xuande and his attendants, as well as Zhao Yun and his retainers.
Guan Yu seemed to be by his lonesome, as Zhou Cang had not been seen since Jingzhou. He had reason to believe the man was still among the living. It wouldn't be like him to have allowed himself to die at the disastrous siege of Fancheng. Once they were done here and on the way back, he would ride through the lands of Xiangyang and see if his comrade-in-arms was still alive and could be found.
But for the moment, he had to prepare for the battle. Xuchang stood a scant mile from them, its walls towering over the surrounding landscape, trying vainly to reach at the heavens like the mountains that lay but a few miles more out. Yunchang had to hand it to Ts'ao Ts'ao, he definitely knew how to be grandiose. Perhaps if things had been different in life, he may still be stationed here.
Yunchang walked over to his brother Xuande and saluted him. Though he knew the formality or lack thereof had no impact upon his brother's demeanor, Yunchang was not one to upset the chain of command. After all, adherence to this was what helped an army to run its smoothest. And that especially was a priority when operating this far into hostile territory.
"My lord, what are your plans for our advance?"

The Flames of Fury[/u]
The Camp of Shu was strategically situated far beyond the city of Xu Chang, thus it would take some time for the warriors of Shu to reach the true heart of the war between Wei and those whom would oppose Cao Pi and his iron fist rule. Yet, most seemed to only focus on the Three Kingdoms, and look past the steady build of power made by the one known as Ba Zeng to the West. Already controlling the majority of the North West, he was a true contender and would not be overlooked. A the people whom served him were far from push-overs. The talented and young Jiang Wei, whose ability with a weapon was succeeded only by the finese of his own mind. Ryou Kin, a unknown but nonetheless ruthless warrior whom made all those bow to the rule of Ba Zeng. Ba Zeng himself commanded much respect with great intelligence and charisma. He controlled almost all key weapons in the land of chaos. Yet the was always one key factor to his military strength, and he owed it all to the pure ferocity and honour of one warrior. A Splendid example of what all young soldiers should aspire to be; furious and honourable. Wei has Zhang Liao, Wu has Wei Yan, Shu has Guan Yu but Zen? Zen has Ma Chao.
And he was here, following the trail of the Shu Army. Yet, his orders were in fact to support the men. Shu and Zen both agreed that the common enemy was Wei, and as such, Wei should be exterminated first and foremost. With his own personal army, Ma Chao was marching to the encampment of the Shu Army, which was only a couple of Li ahead. His head turned to his men, they were ready for war. His supplies were being guarded and his men all looked ready for battle. He smirked with pride as his men seemed almost as fierce as he did. Gale began to pick up the trot as they neared the encampment.
The banner of the Zen Empire was raised to warn the Shu Army that this army was not hostile in any form. Ma Chao was looking forward to speaking with someone such as Liu Bei or Guan Yu. Hell, he had heard much of the legendary Bearded Warrior, he wanted to see the magnificence for himself. His men all brought their weapons to a casual position as they came to a steady halt. A horn was blown as Ma Chao moved off his stallion. "Move off into the camp, introduce yourself to your fellow soldiers." Ma Chao commanded as he moved towards the centre of the camp. People looked suspiciously at him, wondering why he wasn't heading for the tent of Liu Bei.
Ten He counted in his head as he began to move towards the designated tent that housed much of the food of the Shu Army, he would not be questioned either. He would be seen as a general seeing how the supplies fare. Six As he nodded to the guards that were dressed in Shu colours. He smiled before walking away. His feet began to pick up pace as he counted the last digit in his head One.
A horn blowing filled the air, followed by a mighty yell that was emitted from the entire camp.
Fire erupted from the storehouse of the food for the Shu Army. The guards whom were patrolling the tent were actually Zen defectees. They were a part of the Shu Empire once before, but they were strategically placed there by Ba Zeng. Smoke began to fill the air as the audible sound of swords being drawn made its presence known throughout the camp. The Zen army of Ma Chao began to ravage the entire Shu Camp. Their mission? Slaughter anyone and everyone from the Shu Army. Numbers of peasant soldiers, dressed in Shu colours, began to set fire to more tents. They too, were part of the Zen entourage.
"Shu! Face the invicible Ma Chao! I will unleash my Fury upon you!" The warrior commanded from the center of the encampment. More of his men began to circle him as he dared any to confront him. This was suicide to most, but to Ma Chao, this was war.
Summary[/u] - The Army of Zen, under the command of Ma Chao, has made their way to the Shu Encampment - They are following the agreement of a alliance to assist in eradicating the Wei Empire - After dispatching men throughout the camp, Ma Chao made his way to the centre of the camp, near the main food storehouse. - With a ten second count, the storehouses were set alight by Zen Peasant Soldiers dressed in Shu colours. They were always among the Shu Army but they defected long ago. - Chaos ripped through the encampment as the men of Zen began to slaughter all Shu Soldiers. More peasants began to set fire to more portions of the encampment. - With panic ripping the camp, it is hard to tell who is friend or foe. Ma Chao and 200 Spearmen are at the centre of the camp, but quickly moving to tear down everyone.
Troops[/u] All Personal 200 Peasants distributed throughout the camp as Shu Soldiers wearing Shu Colors 300 Gong Jian Bing at the entrance to the camp 300 Dao Bing running wild through the Camp 200 Qiang Bing by Ma Chao's side
(OOC, I am willing to argue all realism of this happening. It is hard to explain in a post, but I'm happy to discuss how this happened through PM's.)

Bei watched the Zen entourage move in. He immediately suspected betrayal from these men. He let them infiltrate, already knowing that they would take his normally cool calm and accepting demeanor as a reason to expect no resistance.
First plan successful.
As the store house seemingly exploded, Bei smiled. Guan Yu had been commanded to move to the rear, the walls of the camp ringed with archers. Gong Jian Bing took aim to the center of the camp, and let loose with never ending volleys, 9,000 arrows flying towards where the defecting Shu warriors were. Ma Chao's army would be slaughtered in seconds.
Moving in from the front gate were the Ji Bing, halberdiers who were trained at shocking into less strong formations, such as Ma Chao's. At their head, Liao Hua, the most trusted of the Non-Five Tigers in Bei's stable of officers.
At the south Gate, Guan Yu, and his army, alongside him the entire Shu contingent of Chang Jiang Bing, 9,000 men who streamed into the fort and ran alongside its walls, their shields held so as to face towards the center of the camp. As the enemy began fighting what amounted to fake soldiers within the camp, Liu Bei smiled, standing on the hill from where they came, looking down into the camp.
Zhao Yun was stationed with the horses, who were tasked with keeping the entire fort surrounded, this being on the two sides without gates. 4,000 on each side, one headed by Zhao Yun, the other headed by his two captains.
Bei's personal force stood around him, Wei Wei Dui with sharp weapons.
But why was he so peaceful? Was it because he had this bastard Ma Chao surrounded? But what of his supplies, the food that would be necessary to support his men as they fought on the frontlines? The food that was now, supposedly, burning within the center of the Shu Encampment?
Remember those hay bales? Who would store Hay bales in their camp? The center was full of them, the Shu supply depot instead sitting directly next to the river, directly next to Liu Bei, guarded by almost all of Bei's personal force. There was not that many guards, but the fort was disguised to look as though it was the storage area for Shu's siege weapon depot; the two siege towers sat at the front, the battering ram able to be pulled away to show a walled in area that was full of men and food.
Ma Chao was now stuck, the walls topped with Archers who shot down into their own encampment, killing anyone not wearing the updated Shu battle dress; specifically given to the trusted generals Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, and the kingdom troops Bei personally selected for their loyalty.
Ma Chao was a cunning man, and this plan would've worked, had Bei not seen the treachery as soon as it was committed. Now the man was hemmed in, Elite units pouring in from all directions, the camp set ablaze at Ma Chao's back.
Bei wanted the man alive, however, and signalled as such. Archers stopped firing into the center, instead focusing on men who were trying to slip inbetween the noose that was created by the moving Ji Bing, who stabbed through every tent, and the Chang Jian Bing, whose shields created an impenetrable barrier for Ma Chao to try to slip through.
Ma Chao's men would be slaughtered to the last man, but Chao himself would live to see his mistake.
((Hey, you started it ^__^))

Betrayal is a funny thing… People looked down upon traitors with such distaste as they are indeed the lowest of the low. However, in many circumstances a rebellion is a very lethal action to be taken… not this time. Zhang Fei would have been mightily impressed by Liu Bei’s intuition if it wasn’t for the raging anger he held towards Zen, and in particular Ma Chao for his pitiful attempt, he was outsmarted by Bei and now he was outnumbered and surrounded. Surely this would be the end for him?
Zhang Fei was not on the scene when the blaze began, where he was was unknown to practically everyone, though it was irrelevant, he was here now and remained behind many of the Shu forces, something very uncharacteristic from the hot-headed man… still, he was not just twiddling his thumbs. He was keeping a sharp eye out for Ma Chao in particular, yet any of the fools who helped bring this faulty plan into fruition were going to suffer at Yide’s hands.
Grabbing an enemy soldier, Zhang Fei threw his weapon aside and instead of immediately plunging his spear into him, threw him on the floor and began to punch and kick at the helpless peon, a fitting punishment… no?
Though under what many would think of as negative circumstances, Fei could not help but smile as he knew that his wise eldest brother had the situation completely under control in a matter of minutes after the outbreak. He simply could not wait until being brought face to face with Ma Chao himself.

Xiang Yao and his men were on their way to the camp, about 1 mile from it, he froze, smoke was rising from the center of the grounds. "No...." He spurred his horse into a galloped, his men all but sprinting to keep up. He was praying to the gods that not all was as it seemed, praying that Liu Bei had foresaw this and had a defense, that he wouldn't arrive to nothing more than charred and slaughtered bodies laying in a pillaged and burning camp ground.
As much as he wanted to continue, he was forced to stop about 1/2 a mile from the camp. His men were tired, and they needed to rest. From this distance, he could see what looked like signs of battle. Swarms of Shu soldiers were surrounding and overpowering the enemy. It looked like they were fighting a combination of Zen and Shu warriors, so they had traitors in their midst.... It seemed Liu Bei held the upper hand, but he brought his 300 Nu Shou forward, and commanded them to take aim. 300 Nu Shou moved to in front of the rest of his army, and loaded their crossbows, Yao took out his longbow and strung it, he then joined his archers. "Archers, take aim!" He shouted, aiming for the 300 bowmen Zen bowmen guarding the Shu gate. "Fire!" He shouted. 301 arrows shot into the air, launching towards their targets, as another volley was prepared. "Fire!" He shouted, and a second volley was fired. The pattern was repeated, volley after volley of arrows filling the air.

Yunchang had moved after Liu Bei had commanded him to take up position at the southern gate. One would expect him to be riding through the rabble atop his steed with a horde of cavalry at his back, but no, this time he was not out to simply route the enemy, he was out to make an example of them. This was the reason the Tiger of Shu was on foot, with two units of Dao Bing as his personal guard. The Chang Bing stood with him, 9,000 strong formed up on his flanks, with him and his Dao Bing standing at the center of this line. Behind him upon the walls of the camp were the Gong Jian Bing, raining death towards the enemy formation at the center of the camp, soon to be engulfed in the blaze they set.
He felt the time was now, as adrenaline-pumped peasant traitors rushed at them backed up with small groupings of Dao Bing. The enemy's guts were truly admirable, they're attack was intimidating, audacious. But it would be to no avail. Yunchang shouted out orders to the unit captains down the line.
"All units, shields up and blades at the ready! Standard advance, do not break ranks! Eliminate the enemy as they attack!"
Yells rose from where the Zen raiders and the Shu army collided, shields buckling under the weight of men throwing themselves upon the shield wall. Peasants were but that, peasants, defectors, double agent or not, one could not expect simple peasants to withstand an attack from trained and well armed soldiers, much less to have success in attacking them.
As they charged, the Shu soldiers swung their blades, stabbing after blocking a hostile attack and stepping forward, pushing the enemy ever closer to the flames rampaging through the rest of the decoy camp. They seemed to stream in from nowhere at him, rushing out from the haze created by the fire attack, blind to the death that awaited them on the clear side of the camp.
Four peasants ran at him, swords held high, screaming. Yunchang brought his Guandao across their midsections with a broad horizontal sweep, killing the four of them instantly. Another group, eight strong this time came charging at him, Dao Bing and peasants. He blocked one Dao Bing's over head slash and kicked him in the groin, lifting him up from the ground for a brief moment at the force of the impact. He fell to the ground groaning while his comrades charged Yunchang. A horizontal slash from right to left shattered the guard of two peasants, the Guandao cleaving them nearly in half as they were sent flying backwards three feet each. Yunchang's Dao Bing personal guard picked up the slack, attacking alongside their master to kill three more Dao Bing in close combat. Two peasants and the man left on the ground were all that were left of this small group. Guan Yu twirled his Guandao from arm to arm, left to right, simultaneously breaking the guard of the sword wielding peasants and slashing them from shoulder to hip along both diagonals. Yunchang sighted the man he had emasculated earlier still reeling from the blow. He placed his right foot squarely between the man's shoulders and with his weight pushed him flat to the ground, face down. He positioned the Guandao above the fool's neck and pushed it down, the blade cutting through soft flesh as if it were roasted pork.
He then looked up and yelled through the smoke, "Mengqi! You traitorous scum! Why do you send peasants and weaklings to fight your battles?! Fight me yourself, you cowardly swine!"

He grumbled, that long haired man, as he rode onwards on one of the finest steeds in all of Xi Liang. He had to make ground quickly if he was to get to Ma Chao’s position and aid the warrior in escaping the predicament Jiang Wei presumed he would be in. The mounted man shook his head with a smile on his face, it was stupid granted, but strangely he would not have him any other way, it added yet another edge to the blade of Zen.
He could hear the shouts of a growing skirmish, the whistle of arrows, the drawing of swords and as he ventured further over the small hill he saw the sight before him, Shu troops encroaching upon the man so many feared. Yet the mighty son of Xi Liang was not to be feared this day, outnumbered and with arguably even more dangerous warriors closing in, the only means for his safety was a quick escape.
”Lord Ma Chao, you must withdraw!” Shouted the lone man as he peered over the horizon of the hill.
Then awe set in at the moment 2 units of militia cavalry followed close by, high in numbers they were not, but like any cavalry, they posed a great threat to almost any troop type under the correct circumstances. They aimed clearly for Ma Chao’s central position, aiming to smash a hole straight forward, allowing the man to escape, yet their predicted path was suddenly altered, as if second guessing a possible arrow volley, or counter, they parted, 75 in each direction as they looked set to crash into either flank of Ma Chao’s closing in aggressors whilst the remaining 50 along with the officer moved to pierce the rear attack of Shu troops, if any were there yet and form a brief hole in defences for the escape.
”I Jiang Wei challenge any who stand before me!” Exclaimed the man as he stabbed his spear through a Shu troop, and then another. A serious look was on his face as he tackled the threat, and aimed to get his fellow general out of there.
Now the fight changed even more, whilst Shu still held the advantage of numbers, the new counter attack meant there was still a chance for the Zen warrior to evade capture and return to their respective camp to regroup. However now there was the great youthful potential of Jiang Wei, who launched into an aggressive move. He was known as both a great warrior, surpassing that of Zhao Yun and Ma Chao himself, but also a man of tactics and scholarship. Arguably he posed a greater threat than even the fierce Ma Chao in the long term.
”So who thinks they have what it takes!? Do the likes of Zhang Fei and Guan Yu grace this battlefield!? Or will they retreat with their tails between their legs?” He taunted, a smirk growing on his face as he jumped off his steed, and begun to join forces with his fellow officer, giving him a nod of respect before laying claim to the lives of many more Shu soldiers...

Unfortunately for Jiang Wei, Bei seemed to have Zhuge Liang at his side, at least in spirit. As soon as Jiang Wei seemingly crashed over the hill, directly south of Bei, he smiled himself. Bei wasn't worried about Jiang Wei. The man brought paltry units, none of which were as advanced or as numerous as his own.
With a pointing of his sword, his Chu Ke Nu and Nu Shou began moving south, leaving the supply depot with but a small remaining force of 200 Nu Shou. Along with them, 200 Qiang Bing ran on their side, to deter any cavalry force. And, finally, 200 Dao Bing rushed south with them, cutting Jiang Wei and Ma Chao's means of escape besides through the city of Xu Chang itself, off.
And yet, Bei was not done with Wei.
Since the men thought it possible to pierce through a section of wall of the camp, which, although made of wood, would not be crashed through.
No, instead, because Jiang Wei thought himself intelligent, he crashed into a wall of moving horses. Though the specifics of Zhao Yun's defense were up to him, needless to say the 8,000 horsemen running around the sides of the camp were more than enough to absorb any impact that Jiang Wei's men might have.((Man, half of Zen in one go? Sure thing ))

Night fell upon the city of Xu Chang. Camps filled with thousands upon thousands of men, barracks loaded with equipment and missile ammunation as enough soldiers to turn the war machine of an entire empire spanning all of China itself rested. Campfires were strong, the few soldiers who remained awake sat back. The camps were silent from the chaos of war for two days, now, but that would be no more. Under the cover of night, a lone rider crossed the plains outside Xu Chang, crossing the light forests to the southwest of Xu Chang's walls, and from the Wu camp he reached their allies. "Good men of Shu! Noble warriors! I apologize for waking you. I am Zhiyun of the Sun Clan. I must speak to Lord Xuande about the morrow's invasion. Prepare yourself, all who can heed my word. As the sun rises, as do our swords."

Ma Chao's Pride[/u]
Everything went haywire for the Zen Army under the command of the Splendid Warrior Ma Chao. His seemingly flawless and rather simplistic plan was easily flipped and slammed on its fragile neck when faced with the now educated Liu Bei. It seemed his time spent with Zhuge Liang had seriously worked in his favour, and Mengqi admitted he was not ready for it. But then again, Mengqi never found himself as the strategic type, he was not a mindless brute, but he didn't think he was a genius like Jiang Wei.
Mengqi remained calm as Wei Wei Dui began to spill out from the stomach of a seemingly invisible demon. They poured like a freshly served glass of wine and just as thick too. Mengqi wasted no time, he pivoted his leg back and pushed off the ground into a sprint, his spear now in his right hand, tip facing downwards towards the ground as the shaft travelled up behind his arm. Two soldiers, defying their orders to preserve the life of Mengqi, ran forward, attempting to gain one heck of a trophy. Their shields raised as they attempted to ram the soldier in a head on collison. Mengqi planted his spear in the ground and used it as a springboard to slam his feet into both shields as they ran forward. Both men lost their balance as Mengqi landed on his back after the impact. Swinging his legs around, he brought himself to his feet almost instantly. The men attempted to bring themselves to their feet, but Mengqi had no time for decency. He wouldn't wait until they returned to their feet, he quickly brought his spear up and impaled one of the soldiers directly in the chest as he lay stranded on the ground. The other thought it would be a smart idea to now stab at the warrior from the left hand side. Mengwi caught his spear in a sort of headlock motion with his left arm, with a incredible roar, he snapped the shaft in two. The warrior now was in panic mode, but Mengqi wrenched him forward. Speaking dead close to his face, he snarled with unbridled ferocity. "You find Guan Yu and you tell him that this entire raid means nothing to me. The only objective I have here today is to prove who is better." The soldier nodded, fearing for his life. He sprinted off, in search of the mighty Yunchang. Yet, he was decieving Ma Chao, and his facial expression changed as he began to leave. Soon, he had a spear sticking out of his back, courtesy of the Warrior of Xi Liang.
Mengqi's men were being slaughtered, and he noticed that as he wrenched the weapon from the soldier's spine. Yet, Guan Yu's challenge reigned high in the air above the sound of the death of his men. It was strange, he was now completely surrounded, yet Liu Bei had yet to give the death command. Turning to the large number of soldiers around him, his foot atop a corpse, he sighed and spoke calmly. "Why do you not strike a lion down when you have the chance? Is this Liu Bei's doing?" He snickered beneath his breath, he knew today he would get his chance to finally face the mighty Guan Yu and prove just who is the true Champion of the West.
Yet, Jiang Wei was intent on rescuing his fellow warrior. The roar from his fellow Zen comrade made it's way to Mengqi's ears. His fist visibly clenched with fury. Why would the fool send more lives to obviously waste, just to preserve a life that truly needs no protection. Ma Chao's pride began to force a massive roar through the entire encampment that everyone would hear.
"THIS DOES NOT CONCERN YOU!"
He literally became Vegeta for a moment, as he roared out to the hills where Jiang Wei stood. He knew that with Wei as his superior officer, he would recieve punishment. But Ma Chao was a Lion intent on defending his pride. He span his spear around in a amazing display of spearmanship. Bringing it around, he yelled out through the entire encampment. "Guan Yu! Will you walk?!" He knew he was at the mercy of the entire Shu Army, but damnit, he hoped that Liu Bei would spare him long enough that he would finally face the only other lion that could truly challenge him.

Bei's head shook. The man thought he was getting out of here alive.
Wrong.
Bei waved a fan, a relay on top of the camp wall receiving the command, and then ordering the captains down in the field. Immediately the swordsmen surged forwards, shields overlapped. They didn't kill the man, no, only surged bodies over him, creating an area that was too small for his acute spear work to hurt. Ji Bing flowed in behind this men, their halberds held above the shields so as to deny any attempts to jump over them, as super human as that would be.
Ma Chao was now being crushed by 2,000 or so men pushing down upon him, not to mention Liao Hua and Guan Yu standing just outside this ring, and the thousands of archers ringing the walls of the camp. Ropes were brought forth, and, with Liao Hua now moving himself into the mix, he took the man's spear while he was concerned with not being crushed to death.
With the man now disarmed, men began pouncing onto him, ropes binding his arms and legs. He was attached to a pole, like a pig up for the cooking, not yet spit but on his way. Someone even had the common courtesy to shove a piece of cloth into the man's mouth.
Chao was set on the ground, still attached to the pole, The crowd parted slightly for Guan Yu to access, as well as Liao Hua. Hua moved forwards immediately, his large club in his hands. He kicked the bastard Chao in the side, causing him to roll. He set his foot down upon the man's fore-arm, and, with a sadistic smile, brought the heavy club down upon the man's hands, so as to shatter them, and ruin that precision the man has always had with his spear.
He backed away, four guards now picking up the pole, and allowing Guan Yu his shots.

In the chaos of battle Yunchang was unaware of the arrival of more enemies, and his unit proceeded with their previous tactics of crushing any attackers and moving forward after each wave was killed. In an instant, the battle began to end. Almost as quickly as it began, the raid was drawing to a close.
"What were they thinking," Yunchang muttered to himself seconds before Mengqi's roar filled the air.
"THIS DOES NOT CONCERN YOU!"
Followed by a, "Guan Yu! Will you walk?!"
At that moment, he knew Ma Chao had heard his challenge, and Guan Yu stepped forward from his lines. Two Dao Bing had their swords at the ready, and took up defensive stances, unsure of how to react to Guan Yu's presence. He walked steadily forward, paying them no mind. He was out to fight and bring the warrior to his knees. They however, misinterpreted his advance. One came at him to attack, bringing his scimitar at Guan Yu with a horizontal slash from right to left. Yunchang set his Guandao's butt upon the ground, allowing the weapon to stand beside him, he leaned into the weapon as the impact struck the shaft. The resilient wood did not break, but it did take a hefty notch and bent inwards slightly. Yunchang drew the saber resting on his belt with his left hand and stepped forward. The draw was quick, far too quick for the attacker to react in time, and he was cut upwards diagonally from right hip to left shoulder. He stood awkwardly for a second before dropping to his knees and rolling onto his side to bleed to death on the dusty ground. The other one stepped out to attack Yunchang as his sword sliced through the soldier's comrade, and as he raised his sword a stray arrow struck him in the lower left lung. He faltered, wincing at the incredible pain and the sudden loss of breath. Yunchang brought his saber back across, still holding his Guandao with his right hand, for a shallower diagonal slash from the man's left shoulder to the right side of his waist. This man simply fell backwards, dead upon impact with the ground. Yunchang then released the grip his right hand had on the shaft of the Guandao, letting it fall to the ground.
He continued walking forward into and through the haze. He heard a great commotion ahead of him, and he assumed a melee between Mengqi's men at the center of the camp and the other Shu soldiers had broken out. When he reached a clear spot, he saw a ring of Shu troopers, accompanied by Liao Hua, one of his brother's trusted retainers, and one of Yunchang's good friends.
He saw Liao Hua look his way and make an opening in the ring. He hastily stepped inside, followed by several others who were bearing ropes. Realization of what had happened still hadn't hit him yet. Yunchang himself finally entered the ring and was greeted with the sight of Ma Chao being hog-tied, already beaten by Liao Hua.
It reminded him of Xia Pi, and the capture of Lu Bu. They seemed to be waiting for Guan Yu to strike the warrior as well. He merely stood there, saber held in his left hand, already stained with blood. The black sooty debris of the hay fire stained his face slightly. Truly, he would've looked a mess had the context been anything else than battle. He looked down upon Ma Chao, with a mixed expression of fury, disgust and pity on his face.
No matter how much his head screamed for vengeance, his heart would not allow his body to attack this man. It was simply dishonorable to strike him in this condition. He was captured, his army largely destroyed, he had no chance of striking back, no chance of defending himself. He could still sense Mengqi's burning resolve. Though he could not fight with his hands, he could still look daggers into one's heart with his fiery glare.
Yunchang knew that this would hurt Mengqi's pride more than his body, and he was content with that. At least this way, he could still defend himself, "Mengqi, you look preoccupied at the moment. Shall I put a hold on our battle?"
