"We show them, M'lord, that the Wei are not to be trifled with. A show of force, either within Xiliang or Xiangping to engage and end the unaligned rabble there would suffice quite readily. It would prove to the Tuo Tuan that we look most unkindly against the rebels without actively engaging and anihilating their force," Zhao Han spoke, his words careful and measured.
"Twenty thousand men, two score ladders," the man said, finally standing as he continued. "That, with a purse of two thousand gold, a month's pay - for the governor of the city to placate him; is all I would require to bring it back to your fold."
With baited breath he waited for his sovereign's response. If he gained the necessary men, he could take the city by force. If he failed in gaining them, he was confident enough in his skill to engage the enemy at almost equal terms on the battlefield, with a properly trained core. The peasantry and ill-trained militia were trained enough for a flanking force, he thought, but were utterly incapable of holding the line. For that, he knew he needed better soldiers. Archers and spears for the main line, swords and horses to flank. It would be a day of blood and death, if he managed to draw Xiliang's garrison from the gates, but he still was certain of his ability to take the city if his conditions were met.
"Lord, I must apologise now for my boldness, but if you are shall deny my initial request, I wish only for the gold and time to better my ranks."

Shou Shi gingerly sipped at his tea as his eyes wandered over a mysterious parchment layed out before him on the table. Across from him a small, humble looking man dressed in robes smiled and then got up from his seat and strolled away as casually as he'd came.. These papers, they were important.
Upon them was a seal, a very important one- for it would give the directions of the letter actual meaning. Those directions being that the specific caravan under the control of a certain Fa Qiu would be permitted to leave the city in order to take goods to wan- that is assuming they had these papers. In a few hours they would pass under the eyes of several guardsmen who would think none the less- even though they were in truth nothing but a fraud. A very expensive fraud, but that was another story.
Viva la Resistance! Eh?
Shou Shi placed the documents in a ledger that was secured around his neck..

Zhang Just stood there as he watched the Royals deal with the murderer he had dragged all the way with him from his patrol he then listens as the emperor begun to talk to him, it was a great honor to have one such as his lord even look at him let alone talk to him, with that Zhang bows his head in respect for the man on the throne was the Lord and master of all the world.“I thank you my lord for allowing me to bring the scrum that rot the very foundations of your kingdom to your feet, I promise to bring every lawbreaker to you so you may deal with them as you see fit. With that Zhang stands beside Cao Pi but far enough away not to invade his or his ladies space

Okay, mod time! I'm stepping in here to reward the four main participants of the Assassination subplot here.
Cao Pi - +2 Fame, +3 Fame, 200 Gold -You have epic post lengths, and I gave you the Torture and Execution tag alongside Zhen for your acts against poor old Hisi. You gained the +3 from your duel of both wits and blades with TYS. 200 Gold for awesome storytelling.
Zhen Luo - +2 Fame, 200 Gold -You get +2 Fame for the tiger mauling of poor old Hisi, and 200 Gold for general storytelling amongst the multiple subplots going on in this thread
TYS - +4 Fame (Fighting/Duelling), +2 Fame (Assassination (fail)), 200 Gold (GS) -If I could give Fame out for having steel balls, I would. Instead, take 4 fame from the multiple duels you described and the duel of words and wits with Cao Pi. The attempt at the assassination was nice, but because it failed I've docked you two fame points. However, I'm giving you 200 Gold for storytelling. Keep up the great work.
Cao Zhang - +3 Fame, +200 Gold Your almost assassination of Cao Pi, and the killing of your own NPC gives you +3 Fame (+1 for a fake assassination, +2 for assassinating an NPC), and your long posts with interesting backstory and ability to tell stories grant you +200 gold.

Cao Pi steadied his gaze as Zhao Han took advantage of the moment, his voice a loud brisk tone that shattered the once sterile atmosphere that had lingered after the assassins passing. Now, it seemed as if more pressing matters needed to be attended, and it was his job to attend to them – regardless of what could have happened minutes ago.
It was after all, his responsibility – he had not grown this empire from the foundations that his father had left behind for nothing, nor would he let anything stand in his way, not even an assassin.
He rose from his throne as Zhao Han finished his wording, he had requested – or rather, ordered for several thousand troops to go north-west and subjugate the remaining rebels stationed in Xiliang. It was, for the most part – a clever scheme, if he sent 20,000 soldiers to Xiliang he knew he’d come back victorious, after that the north-west would be totally secure for a more southern expedition. That much he understood and agreed with.
But Cao Pi couldn’t or rather – wouldn’t weigh up the odds as he paced the throne. If it took Zhao Han 20,000 troops to defeat a rebellion of 6,000...then, he thought, how does that reflect upon this general’s abilities?
“Zhao Han.” He spoke calmly as he turned round to face him. He has no idea what he would do at the current time, but he knew he couldn’t stay hesitant forever, he needed to act – and his enemies needed to die.
“I cannot give you what you seek.” He stared as he spoke, keeping an eye on the actions of his fellow officer, “However, I can grant you soldiers.”
He moved over to a small table he had situated beyond the Empress’ throne, where a map was folded out and nailed to each edge of the wood. He beckoned for his officer to follow, and then pointed a finger to the location of Xiliang.
“I can provide you with 4,000 Gong Jian Bing, 4,000 Ji Bing and 4,000 Jian Bing. With these soldiers you should have no trouble in destroying those who oppose me, however.”
He turned back towards his throne, whilst keeping his general in close sight, “I have no ladders to provide you with. The last batch of equipment was sent south earlier today, so I ask that you either purchase some more or ready the construction of more siege equipment yourself. Man Chong should be returning from Chang’An shortly, he should bring back with him a few new weapons of mine that I will have delivered to you should you need more....fighting power.”
He smiled, “I suppose you’ve yet to meet a few of my new toys.”

Zhao Han listened intently to his lord's words. He was, perhaps, foolhardy to ask for so many men, but as he saw it, he required the men to best the walls assuredly. The ladders, of course he could build himself once he reached the city, provided the trees in the region were suitable of course. As for the soldiers, Zhao Han said nothing to that.
"M'lord. Where it comes to a siege, I would require at least three men to every man they have if you expect me to invest and take the city by force as they man the walls. If, however, you expect subterfuge or a set-piece battle upon the lands before the city, then the allowance you offer will be more than sufficient," Zhao Han replied.
"I shall assemble the banners at once, if you would allow me my leave, my King, and see to it that Wei's glory once again is known within Xiliang, and farther afield. Though I would be honoured to meet with Man Chong and see his newest creations, I fear that time is of the utmost, Lord. I bid you long life and a prosperous reign." With those words, Zhao Han bowed thrice to Cao Pi before walking backwards for ten steps, at which point he finally turned on his heels and strode from the palace. He would seek out his banner, gauge the training and skill of his men, then advance to the north.

*After all of this commotion it was even the more surprising that Gao Lan was still fixated upon the cold Empress of Wei. As the assassin attempted his attack Gao could not help but laugh, though he quickly got bored and yawned and he turned his attention to more interesting matters. He listened to the Queen and chuckled to himself, to gain the favour of the powerful was a golden opportunity for advancement up the ranks. Gao craved luxury and to be the favourite of the Empress was a chance to attain vast sums of wealth and the means to live in absolute pleasure. His mind began to wander and all he could think about was how many concubines he could bed with the wealth that would soon be his, this daydream was interrupted by those damned tigers and for a moment Gao lost his composure and stepped back, upon seeing they were not for his throat though calmed him and smiled once more.*
"My Queen, do not trouble yourself with this beastly Mortiss, he will learn to respect your power and grace, by the time I have finished with this filthy traitor he will be groveling at your feet like a loyal dog."
*He turned his body and waved to his shiny slaves who picked up his sedan chair groaning wearily and marched gloomily toward him. One of his slaves was not chained like the rest, instead he carried a golden plate with a golden chalice resting neatly on top. This was filled with wine which Gao grabbed and downed in three gulps before placing back onto the plate.*
"Diamonds are the most precious of all precious jewels, it is only proper that the most precious jewel of them all should have them. Once I return from this ghastly business you will have two more to add to your collection, I will scour the land in search of them. Your humble servant has given you his word."
*With this he blew the Empress a kiss and then turned his attention to the Emperor for the first time since he arrived, he did not speak but instead chuckled and gave him a wink before hopping onto his throne, the slaves then marched in tandem out of the throne room, Lan was gone, for now......*

Cao Zhang was growing increasingly annoyed. He had traveled to the west, seeking to take on the Blood Bandits, but that did not work out too well. Ryou Kin and his men defeated and pillaged a small group of Wei soldiers with supply train. They then headed off toward Xi Liang which was guarded heavily by rebel forces. Zhang and his men were too few in number to attempt an attack on the city. He cursed himself for recently disbanding his northwestern force. It would have been more than enough to annihilate the rebel presence at Xi Liang, but he conceded to his brother Cao Pi.
As the army was moving toward Luo Yang, a lone man approached them and told of Zhou Yu's insurgency at Wan. Again, Zhang cursed his lack of men and resources. The only thing he could do was move to Luo Yang and hope his brother would be desperate for assistance. Not only was Wan the object of rebellion, but Chai Sang was under attack as was Ru Nan. Sima Yi that dirty bastard was not to be trusted, ever.
The gates to Luo Yang opened once the guards realized that Cao Zhang had returned, again. Just a few weeks ago, maybe months, he had arrived with a mighty host of men. Now, he had a force akin to a tick on a cow's ass compared to his prior one.
"Get the hell outta the way" he thought, almost yelling it out to peons in his way. He was very aggravated, as usual, but would try and calm down to not seem like a raving lunatic to the Emperor.
Oh, he was seriously pissed though. He had moved out to kill the shit out of Ryou Kin and take Xi Liang, but Zhao Han that son of a goat received orders to do so. If Zhang saw him again, he would offer him a piece of his mind..... and his spear.
Cao Chun decided to stay back this time, not wanting to get killed as he almost did before. He would wait with the army, getting them situated and then moving to get food and water.
Cao Zhang climbed the palace stairs and as soon as he reached the top, the doors opened. One of the guards welcomed him back, but only received silence in response.
The general moved toward the throne and removed his helmet. He stopped around 50 paces or so, from his brother, and glanced at the surrounding officials. He wanted them gone while he discussed what had been happening recently throughout the kingdom.
"Brother, I have come to beg for your forgiveness. I failed in my attempt to rid our western territories of the rebel scum known as Ryou Kin. Not only that, but they routed one of Tian Shui's convoys and moved to Xi Liang to bolster their forces."
Zhang lowered his head slightly, hoping that his failure would go unpunished. Twas also the reason he wanted Pi to have people leave, so he would not have to serve as an example to others.
"It gets worse, though" he said, continuing on with the bad news.
"It seems Zhou Yu, formerly of Wu, has somehow taken Wan from us. He has a sizeable force, with skilled officers, and I hope that you see the importance of moving against them. As you are most likely aware, Chai Sang is also under attack and in trouble of falling. The rebels are getting closer and closer to the capital."
Cao Pi probably knew all of the above, already, but still it was Zhang's duty to inform him anyway. Not only that, he was present to ask something of his beloved brother.
"Brother, I feel useless without an adequate army. I beg of you to reinstate some of my former command, possibly ten thousand men or so. I will make our enemies curse the day they decided to turn against Wei!"
He waited, patiently, for a response from the Emperor. Cao Pi was busy, but surely not too busy to defend his kingdom.

Cao Pi had found a small window within his schedule to relax, using the time to push out his table and bring it before the two thrones, so that in the future, he’d be able to move closer and plan ahead with his sub-ordinates. He had also wanted to spend a little time with his wife, but as he drew the table closer to his own throne, the doors opened up – and Cao Zhang had entered.
“Oh, why do the heavens always force my hand?” He smiled sadly as he withdrew from the table’s wooden frame, crossing his arms.
He had not seen Cao Zhang look so down in a long time. A mixture of pain and regret flushed the man’s otherwise emotionless face as he spoke to his emperor of the coming troubles. He had heard rumours of the Wan attack, but until now it hadn’t been properly confirmed nor reinstated.
“Your failure is dismissible.” He stated boldly, moving closer to his brother and extending his hand to clap his brother’s shoulder. “The blood bandits might have found refuge, but their time will be short lived. I have ordered Zhao Han to deal with the pesky rebels, since you and I have more...important matters to discuss.”
He smiled. (Continued in the war camp)
